The situation, without evasion
Adobe has stopped selling XD and stopped developing it. The tool still works for those who have it, it no longer progresses. That is not an emergency, it is a deadline: your files become harder each year to open, to share and to have taken over by a supplier.
What that changes in practice
A new supplier will ask for your sources. If they do not work in XD, and most do not today, they will redraw rather than take over. You will pay twice for the same work.
What we do
We start with the inventory: many XD files contain obsolete screens, abandoned variants and a single version that actually counts. Migrating the lot would be a waste. We take over what serves.
What does not transfer
Prototypes and their interactions are rebuilt. Some effects have no direct equivalent. We list them before starting, so that nobody discovers a loss afterwards.
What we keep
The original files, archived. As long as Adobe lets them be opened, there is no reason to throw them away, and they settle any disagreement about what had been approved.
What to migrate to
Figma in almost every case: that is where the teams, the suppliers and the resources are. We will not propose a niche tool that would put you in the same situation in three years.
