The question of the software budget
Few organisations work out what their creative suite costs them over five years. When they do, the conversation changes. Affinity is not a budget compromise: it is a professional suite with a different purchase model.
What transfers well
The common interchange formats open on both sides, which is enough for most uses. A logo, a brochure or a poster is produced as well on one side as on the other.
What does not
Adobe’s native files do not open perfectly. Complex inherited projects need reworking. And if you exchange sources with outside suppliers, they will probably expect Adobe formats. That is the real obstacle, more than the quality.
Our position
We produce our graphic deliverables in whichever tool suits your situation. If you want to leave the subscription, we support you and we deliver the sources in a format you will be able to open. If you stay on Adobe, we work there.
The concrete advice
Do not migrate your archive. Do your new work in the new tool and keep the old one available for what already exists. A complete migration of archives costs more than the subscription it was meant to avoid.
