What the tool brings that nothing else does
Analytics tools tell you what people do once they arrive. Search Console tells you what they were looking for beforehand. It is the only first-hand source on that question, since it comes from the search engine itself.
The searches you already appear on
That is often the first surprise: a site frequently ranks on phrasings nobody in the company had thought of. Those are the best pages to strengthen, because half the work is already done.
Pages that are almost well ranked
A page at the bottom of the first page or the top of the second receives very few clicks. The same page moved up a few places receives far more. That seam is spotted in a few minutes and costs far less than writing new pages.
What prevents indexing
The tool reports the pages the search engine has not kept and why. After a rebuild, it is the first place to look: a forgotten redirect shows there before it shows in the revenue.
One limit to know about
The positions displayed are averages, and an average mixes very different situations depending on device, place and moment. They serve to see a trend, not to establish a position at a given instant. Anyone wanting an exact position has to check it another way, and that exact position does not really exist anyway.
